Worldly Delusions

Pastor:
Passage: 1 Timothy 2:1-7, Luke 16:1-13
Service Type:

Paul tells Timothy we should pray for our rulers, and others who may know nothing of God.  The world thinks it is going fine, but we know it truly needs to hear about Jesus.  Jesus tells a parable about a man who is cheating his employer.  When discovered he tricks his master into thinking he is a wise and prudent man.  In truth the man is only interested in his own welfare.  Jesus warns his followers to hold on to God’s values.

The only thing of true value is our relationship with God through Jesus.

Confession

God, our Lord and redeemer, the world tells us that the highest values are wealth, power, reputation and comfort.  We often listen and seek those things above our relationship with You.  We let ourselves be blinded by the lures of these things, instead of listening to Your Spirit telling us that love is the greatest value; Your love for us, and our love for You and one another.  Forgive us and keep us focused on Your grace.
