Moses responds to a miracle by seeking the reason for what he was seeing.  In response God gives him a task (to lead Israel out of slavery) and reveals a name to Moses that shows the ongoing nature of God, the living God (as opposed to idols).  In response to Peter’s declaration that Jesus is the messiah, Jesus begins to reshape the concept of what the Messiah’s task is.  That He is to die for the sins of the world.

God often doesn’t conform to our preconceived notions.
