The Bread of Life
Jesus says that those who believe in Him will have eternal life. The Jewish leaders complain that Jesus is no one special. Jesus reiterates his claim, then says My flesh will be given for the life of the world. Looking back we see that He was looking toward the cross. Paul tells the Ephesians that they should stop behaving as the world does, and instead be imitators of Christ, who gave Himself up for us.
Remembering Christ’s offering for us should enable us to live as he did.
Lord Jesus, You came to us to show us the love of God. You called us to be like You. But too often though we claim Your name, we live more in imitation of the world around us. We let greed, and anger control us. We let our fears keep us from doing as You did. Forgive us, and renew in us our desire to partake of the Bread of the World.
