We are reconciled to God through the work of Christ on the cross. But even though we are not perfect, Christ sends us into the world as His representatives.  As Jesus sent his apostles into the communities he had not yet visited, so too we are sent out to bring love and healing into the world.  We are not up to the task, but when we accept, God equips us to do His work in the world.

Confession

Holy Lord, You have called us to go into the world in Your name.  You have called us to serve others as You did on earth.  Yet we constantly find excuses.  We say we are not worthy to do Your work.  We say we don’t have the ability to bring Your message clearly.  We deny that we could be of use to You.  We conveniently forget that it is not we who are doing the work in the world, but You are doing the work through us.  We let our pride keep us from giving You the glory of working in our weakness.  Forgive us, and help us to trust Your judgment.
