Putting our Money Where our Mouth Is
The parable of the talents initially reminds us of money and material resources. God has provided for us and is calling on us to use His provision to further the kingdom of God. That is part of what we talk about during Consecration Sunday, how our finances can be used for the Church. But of course, the word talent may have referred to a particular coinage, but in modern English, it refers also to the abilities God has given us. And the story of Barak and Deborah also suggests that it may refer to our presence and support of one another.
God, You have blessed us with so many gifts and especially with the gift of Yourself. Yet we sometimes think of those gifts as ours, forgetting that we are blessed to become blessings for others. You give us of Your presence, and call us to be present for others who need to experience Your message of love. Forgive us, and help us to multiply Your blessings for the Kingdom.
