Promises Fulfilled

Passage: Isaiah 35:1-10, Matthew 11:2-11
Service Type:

While in prison John begins to wonder of Jesus is really the Messiah he had been expecting.  He seems to be waiting for Jesus to launch the revolution and bring the judgment John had preached about.  Jesus replies by citing the lives He has changed and the teaching He has done, much of which fulfill the promises of Isaiah that were to be signs of the Messiah.

Reminding ourselves of God’s fulfilled promises strengthens our faith.

God, our Lord, we know that You are trustworthy.  We know that Your love is beyond measure.  Yet sometimes in the midst of the difficulties of life we begin to wonder.  We lose sight of Your promises, and we see only problems.  We don’t take time to renew our faith.  Help us to see clearly the wonders of Your grace and Your steadfast love.
