Haman was moved by prejudice and jealousy to try and destroy the Jewish people in Persia.  Esther was in the right place at the right time to gain their reprieve, but Haman was executed.  In Jesus parable, the rich man knew the commands to care for the poor, but ignored them.  He suffered eternal consequences.

God calls us to live in love. Not in hatred and greed.

Confession

God, your love and grace are overwhelming.  Yet we sometimes listen when the world tells us they are not enough, that we need to loo our for ourselves first.  We let ourselves forget mercy when we feel our position threatened.  We don’t live by Your rule, that we should treat others the way we want to b treated.  When your chastisement comes, we try to ignore it.  Forgive us, and renew in us Your love.
