In Debt to Love
Matthew 18 begins with Jesus telling his disciples one who becomes humble like a child is great in the Kingdom of Heaven. It then warns people not to cause “little ones” to stumble in their faith, and describes ways believers can stumble. In our passage he comes back to welcoming children then again speaks of welcoming back wandering sheep. Through all this Jesus recognizes that people will stray, but instead of standing in judgment, we should try to guide them back into the way of faith. Paul reminds us that the call to love our neighbor includes most of the other commandments. He also notes that we should also renew our own relationship with God constantly.
