God in Unlikely Places

Passage: 1 Kings 8:1-43, John 6 56-69
Service Type:

Solomon brings the Ark into the temple, and God’s Glory fills the temple.  Solomon prays that even though God is never going to be contained in a building, God will keep a special ear attuned to the prayers offered in the temple by Israelites or by foreigners, so that all people will know God has chosen to reveal  His glory there.  Jesus tells the people they have to eat his body and drink his blood in order to attain eternal life.  Many people are grossed out and stop following.  His closest disciples say they have no place else to go.

God chooses where and how to reveal Himself to us.  We need to keep our eyes open

God, our Creator and redeemer, Your ways are far beyond our ways.  Yet we want the comfort of predictability.  We want You to conform to us and to our ways.  When You surprise us with Your actions or Your call to us, we try to deny that it is really You.  When You speak a new language we refuse to listen.  Forgive us, and help us to truly Hear what You say to us.  Amen
