A Mystery Revealed
The first non-Jewish people come to recognize the Christ as a baby. Through his ministry, Jesus continues to reach beyond the Jewish settled areas: to Samaritans, to the Syro-Phoenician community, and to the Decapolis. Paul says that God’s love for the gentiles was a secret God kept from the beginning, at least to Jewish eyes. The Old Testament has many references to God’s work among the nations, but the Jewish people clung to the notion that they alone were favored by God. Today God is still working to show love to all people, whether the church accepts them or not, and whether they accept God or not.
